The NJASK!!!!!!!! (dun dun dunnnnn)

For the first time, Sunday wasn't what my mom would call "THE DAY BEFORE THE NJASK FREAK OUT DAY!!". It was just -----Sunday. I wasn't scared. My english teachers really knew how to make a kid prepared for the NJASK. It was just so easy. I mean, we had practice that was harder than the NJASK. Some of the multiple choice were pretty ridiculous, but I got it. It was like we were just doing more practice. I even got a good night's sleep, because i wasn't scared. I rushed out to catch the bus with a huge smile. All my friends were biting their nails off, while i was giving them pep talk. It felt good to ace it. I had felt so amazing. After the test was over, i felt that i couldn't have done better, because i had done my best!!

Pizza Surprise

Cody and Bella's parents worked all day. They never got to have fun. They left for work at six in the morning and came back at dinner time.
"I wish we could do something special for mom and dad."Cody said, sighing.
"Yeah, we can make pizza for dinner."Bella exclaimed."We can make the dough and everything!"
Cody grinned, agreeing with Bella. They decided that Bella would make the dough and Cody would make pizza sauce. Bella mixed all the ingredients and rolled out the dough. Cody started to put all the elements into the blender.
Bella rolled the dough onto a pizza pan, while Cody smeared pizza sauce onto the pizza.
"And now for the cheese!"Bella said, using her best British accent.
"Yes please. Add some veggies!"Cody exclaimed, laughing.
They quickly put the timer for seventeen minutes and put the pizza in the oven.It was going to take a while to bake, so the kids decide to play a board game.
     "Bella it's your turn!Hurry up!"Cody demanded.
"Ok, I'm going. You are so bossy!"Bella retorted. utterly annoyed.
"Oh?I'm bossy? You are the one telling me what to do. I know how to make pizza!"Cody yelled.
Cody and Bella started to fight. Suddenly, they smelled something burning.
"The pizza!"They both screamed in unison.
   The pizza had become burnt.
"What are we going to do?"cried Cody. "Mom and Dad are going to be home soon!"
As the kids started to panic, their parents walked through the door and stared at them.
"Mom, Dad, we're so sorry! We were trying to make pizza for dinner, but it became burnt!"Cody said, disappointed. "We know you work so-------------"
"It's okay, guys."Mom interrupted, smiling. "We really appreciated the thought."
"Yeah, guys."Dad said, smiling. "Now, who wants to go out for some pizza?"
"We do!"the kids yelled, hugging their parents.
     "Alright, then.Let's go!"they said.
The family walked down to the pizza place, smiling.

Quote Response

Nothing is impossible, we should never stop trying. "Impossible is a word only to be found in the dictionary of fools"(Napoleon Bonaparte). When something gets in the way of our path, we give up easily. We don't even take a chance. Nothing is impossible, because we can achieve it. Impossible is a word that should not exist in the world. We can achieve just about everything, if we try.
There are times in which you may think that it is impossible, but you should give it a try. If you are a fool, you will do the easy thing and give up. Most of us are very determined and we will seek victory. For example, I was watching a movie in which a man was very depressed. His friend told him not to worry and that nothing was impossible. So, he took a tube of toothpaste and squeezed out every ounce. Then he told his friend, oh yeah?, okay, shove all this toothpaste back in the tube. It was very funny, because it was not expected, but it was not impossible. You can shove all the toothpaste back inside, even if it may take a while. Then, one day, in the fifth grade, we went to Camp Bernie. My friend looked at the climbing tower and immediately thought that it was impossible to climb. I decided that I would prove her wrong. I put on a harnest, and made my way up the climbing tower, even though it was oozing with ladybugs. It was so disgusting, yet I climbed up to the topand rang the bell, proving to her that it wasn't impossible.
People may think that fighting your way through peace would be impossible. But, Mohandas Gandhi proved them wrong. During the British invasion in India, Gandhi fasted and led India to freedom, not with war, but with peace. He taught us lessons that we would have never realized. He did it without a single ounce of fighting or war. He fought for India's independence without even eating. He gave up so much for his nation. He did not believe in violence. He showed us that it is possible to get your way without violence.
It is not impossible to do anything. We should not believe in giving up, but believe in victory. Sure, things like riding a magic pink flying horse may be impossible, but who knows? We haven't been proved scientifically wrong yet. I am trying to tell you that maybe your dreams may come true. Just remember, nothing is impossible and you can still do it, no matter what.

Random Locker Searches

Dear Superintendent O'Malley,
According to J.K. Rowling,"We must all face the choice between what is right and what is easy." It is not right to invade somebody'sprivacy, but it would be easier for our public schools if the percentage of students bringing illegal paraphernelia to school. The Edison School Board has submitted a recent proposal to allow randow locker searches in public schools. Allowing these searches is not enlisted in our checklists. These searches will only be an invasion of privacy, misplace student belongings, and waste time.
Privacy is very important to everybody. We don't like to reveal our secrets to just anyone and kep hings to ourselves. A female student may bring feminine neccessities to school. A student might feel ashamed of their poor grades and hide them in their locker. If the administration invades their personal belongings, astudent may feel embarrased. We want our students to feel comfortable. However, these students can just carry these neccessities around with them to classes.Wrong. These students will most likely put everything they carry into their locker when they don't need it.
During these searches, some items may get misplaced or stolen. The person who is searching the locker may put items into a different location. A student may remember exactly where they put their homework, and find out that it is put somewhere else. They may not be able to find it and then recieve no credit for the assignment. The person who is searcing the locker may leave something outside the locker near it. They may not realize and just leave it there. Somebody can come along and steal that item. Misplaced and stolen items will become a problem for the school and they will be the ones paying for the items. It will decrease the school's popularity and attract negative attention. However, a student can be more organized so they wouldn't have to dislocate everything. Wrong. The searcher will most likely locate everything to a new spot.
Wasting time is not the correct answer. The adminstration could be doing something else that would bring positive attention to the school and would benefit the school in some way. They could go to workshops or bring more supplies for the school. Going through every single locker would take up so much time that it would decrease school popularity. However, the staff can split up the jobs. Wrong. This would only retard the process with less staff members.
It is clearly evident that these locker searches will bring many negative effects than positive. Nobody wants their secrets revealed and have their items misplaced or even stolen. The schools want the adminstration to work harder, not retard the process. It is difficult to choose between right and easy, but this time, we just need to choose right and complete the task.
                                                                                                                      Sincerely,
                                                                                                                 Parthi Dasondi

School Uniforms

Dear Superintendent O’Malley,
According to Adlai Stevenson, “Freedom rings where opinions clash.” America is the nation of freedom. Expressing ourselves is how we survive in this world. The Board of Education has recently submitted a proposal on requiring school uniforms in all public schools. Many public schools are starting to require uniforms. Requiring school uniforms will not be a proper decision, it will not affect the school positively or negatively. It is my understanding that uniforms have an extra cost, an inability to self-express, and many students will outgrow them eventually.
Requiring school uniforms in public schools is increasing nationwide. These uniforms, however, have an extra cost. First of all, parents would have to pay for clothes to wear outside of school and a uniform. In addition to this, the district does not offer financial aid to families above the poverty line. But, parents would save money on buying clothes for school. However, the uniform would still have an extra cost.
If this proposal is passed, all students would be wearing the same clothes. Hence, uniforms have the inability to show self-expression. Students need to self-express! They have to be able to show their personality and who they are. In addition, students and teachers will have a hard time distinguishing and locating other students, if they are all wearing the same clothes. However, clothes are not the only way that students express themselves. At the same time, wearing a uniform permits no accessories and students are forced to wear specific colors and items. It is evident that uniforms have the inability to show self-expression.
Kids, growing up, go through a series of growth spurts throughout the year. Many students will definitely outgrow their uniforms. First, parents would frequently have to pay for new ones, relating back to the topic of uniforms having an extra cost. Students would start to feel uncomfortable because the outfit would start to feel tight. However, parents could buy a larger size from the start. At the same time, the uniform might not fit the student and it would not look nice and proper. It is clearly evident that uniforms are big problem.
Requiring school uniforms would be a poor decision that would result in negative effects to the school. Our public schools need freedom and individuality. Uniforms have an extra cost, an inability to self-express, and it is guaranteed that many students will outgrow them. Uniforms require students to look the same, but who said that their ability to express their personality was ordinary?
                                                                                      Sincerely,
                                                                                    Parthi Dasondi

Coca-Cola, meet your perfect match! Coca-Cola is the new A-list beverage, and it is found to the liking of a wide variety of consumers. We would like your news channel, The Carroll News Channel, to air our commercial. According to Alice Walker, “Expect nothing. Live frugally on surprise.” Well, Coca-Cola is your surprise. Coca-Cola is not at all like any other beverage, it is unique! Unlike other sodas, Coca-Cola will not rot your teeth, but only help them. Our new product does many things, such as energize and quench thirst. It also appeals to any age group. Kids, adolescents, teenagers, you name it!
Coca-Cola now quenches thirst, unlike other sodas, which only make you thirstier.  It also has a better taste, since it is made with richer ingredients. The new can states all the ingredients, and no artificial or counterfeit ones. There is also 30% less caffeine, so you don’t taste the gas at the end of one sip. That disgusting taste does not linger around in your mouth. One sip will energize you head to toe!
The great thing is that Coca-Cola now comes in three different new flavors, including the original. The three new flavors are caramel, cherry, and lime. Unlike other beverages, our soda is made with 100% natural ingredients. The thing that really brought us more publicity was our caramel flavor. Consumers tell us that it is a very unique flavor and tastes very delicious. You get a sweet taste and we call it “inspiring.” There is also no artificial extracts. We just use the actual elements, no matter how long it takes. We like to displease with honesty, rather than please with lies.
Coca-Cola appeals to a wide range of consumers, since we have created a zero calorie beverage. Coca-Cola also comes with zero calories, along with the other flavors. Now consumers can have an almost healthy energy beverage. The can drink without feeling the guilt. Our company also owns more than half of the world’s beverages. It is recognized by 94% of the world’s population. Most dentists recommend drinking Coca-Cola, because it now includes fluoride! Fluoride makes your teeth healthier. The smart thing about fluoride is that you cannot taste it or smell it. Unlike other sugary drinks, Coca-Cola will not rot your teeth!
It is evident that Coca-Cola will do anything but disappoint you. It quenches thirst, comes in new flavors, and energies! It even comes in zero calories! Using artificial ingredients is like using horse meat and saying it is pepperoni. We are giving consumers something that they will remember. We try to see the good side of things, but with Coca-Cola you don’t have to try. It is all there! Wow yourself with our new product. Please consider our offer; you will truly see the difference!

Reflection on my Commercial

This video advertisment was so fun! I thought that our commercial was funny, creative, and very convincing. I thought that I was actually pretty good at persuading and discussing the product. I know that I could really improve on video editing, making it less humorous, and work on special effects. I would like to use anecdotes in my persuasive writing and statistics. Statistics will make the commercial more convincing. My favorite part would have to be the part where we drank the soda. I usually don't drink a lot of soda, and it was refreshing. I loved that we had to film that scene over and over again. I plan to speak louder and maybe show more expression. I learned that I am really good with a fake accent, I can act as different characters, and I can negotiate very well!My writing mentors are Rick Riordan and Elizabeth Eulberg. Readers will see the cleverness from Rick Riordan and the proper writing from Elizabeth Eulberg. This was obviously the best part oof the unit!

Why TV Should Air Our Commercial

Hello! We are from Coca-Cola! We would like to air our commercial on your channel. I understand that you get many offers similar to this one, but we will show you that Coca-Cola is your perfect match!First of all, Coca-Cola is a hit brand. Many people view Coca-Cola commercials and find it to their liking. The commercial would bring both of our companies more publicity. Many more people would view your channel, bringing the two of us more fame. This is a win/win situation. Our advertisment offers viewers a chance to enjoy themselves for atleast one to two minutes. We briefly discuss the product and we have a great sense of humor. The commercial has a coupon, which will attract many viewers. It is also very entertaining. The commercial is not very graphic and doesn't have bright effects. The commercial will probably even make you want to buy our product. Now, can you turn down an offer like this?

Sprite Commercial Ft Drake (Extended)

My favorite commercial is the Sprite commercial with Drake in it. It starts out with Drake rapping the song "Empire State of Mind". He starts to get tired from all the rapping and finally says that he cant rap anymore. Then, he takes a sip of Sprite, and his whole body transforms into a robot. You can see the Sprite fueling him and giving him energy. The commercial ended with Drake rapping with full on energy. What I loved about the commercial was that they showed Drake's body turn into something mechanical. The Sprite was fueling every part of his body and it made him so energized. I haven't seen Drake in many commercials, so I enjoyed watChing that. I mean I have never seen something so unique. Sprite does taste pretty good. It was actually a very persuading commercial! You can actually see the commercial on the video bar of my blog. Make sure you see the part where Drake turns into a machine!! Soda commercials are always interesting!

College and Career Unit Lessons

I have learned a lot of things from the college and career and career unit. The most important thing I learned to this unit was patience. I learned that you have to wait for many things. I also learned that getting a good job and going to a good college takes a lot of work. You have to work really hard. I learned how to write a resume, which will be really important in my future. I also learned how to fill out a college essay accompanied with a college essay. I was really glad that I got to fill the application out. Now I know some of the topics that I can use for my future college application. Then, I can practice writing my college application essay, so I have a better chance of getting into the college of my dreams, Yale University. Thanks to the unit, I got to learn more about Yale. I would not have payed so much attention to Yale if it weren't for this unit. I also loved using coin3.com because it helped me to find out about my occupation. It gave a lot of information, information that I would have never found on the internet alone. There are so many things to college and career that take a alot of time. This unit prepared me for the future, and I can now improve. Thanks a bunch, College and Career Unit! Mrs. Patalano, too! I would not have been able to do anyhting without her. This was an awesome unit.

College Essay

I've connected with a lot of characters from many miscellaneous novels. However, there is one character I look up to. Her name is Max, from Maximum Ride.
Max is a risk taker, a challenger, and a believer. She sticks with her family through thick and thin. She has a sharp mind, and she can always decide what to do. She puts her family first, and everything else comes later. They are her first priority. I love how she takes the biggest risks, just because they are right. Would you take the easy way out, knowing it was wrong? But Max, never. She is my hero. I cannot relate to her, but someday I want to end up like her. I want to to have a name in my town, or my country. I want to be known for doing something amazing. Yale University has the perfect education program, to allow students to excel in any major. Max is a fighter. She fights for the things she believes in. She may be mythical, but she is real to me. When I'm in a dilemma, I remember Max. She helps me choose what is right, even though it might take a while to complete. However, there is one thing that Max and I have in common. We both can start a great argument, and prove the other person wrong. Max is the main character in her life. She is a leader. To me, she symbolizes braveness, trust, boldness, and careness. Even though she is only fourteen years old, I feel that she has the potential to start being an adult. To her family, she is the mom. She never let's her age get in the way of her family and their needs. I strive to be that person. I strive to be the person who puts their goals right in front of them, and achieve each and every one. One day, I want to be the hero for somebody. My mom is the real life Max, for me. Her family comes first. She is the most brave person I know. She shows me that even though the task of living life is probably the most difficult thing that you will ever overcome, you will be able to succeed. She lives everyday like there is no tomorrow. There is one thing I learned from her. Live your life to the fullest. That's exactly what Max does. There is more to Max than just being a character in an adventure novel. She is my mentor, my hero, my friend. Someday, I want to just show everyone what I can do. Yale University, above all others, is the gateway to opportunities of a lifetime. Being the Max in my family, is one of them.

Technology

We can communicate much quicker now, thanks to technology. It however, actually does result in people learning less. People are actually learning more from what they see on the Internet or television. It gives us news about the people around us and the world around us. Sometimes, when I am on the Internet, I read about major things that are happening in the world today. I can see the weather, so I know what the weather will be like tomorrow. Technology has improved our lives one step at a time. Then again, we have used technology so much that we become addicted to it. Don't you think that we have to learn to do something with our own hands for a change? If technology was gone, there would be a major, major impact on today's world.
Some people do learn less. They are to addicted to games and unnecessary things like dress up games or whatever. They don't use the internet as a useful resource, concluding with learning less. They do not stay focused. If the Internet was gone, what would we do? We would have to use our textbooks, right? So now we see how technology can get in the way of learning. It changes your life, so make sure you don't become and addict. Remember next time that what would happen if it all disappeared? We'd learn then. Technology today has made a great impact on our lives.

Welcome Ms.Carroll!

Hey! I am Parthi Dasondi. I'm from Lincoln Elementary. My teacher was Mrs.O'Brien. I tend to be loud, and talkative, but I'm outgoing and weird sometimes too. That's what makes me, well me. I'm weird and I'm proud of it. I know, never heard that one before! I believe in making dreams happen. I absolutely love coming to school. Herbert Hoover is the best middle school on the planet. It's fun and awesome and not boring. I love coming to school everyday and seeing my friends and they can always make me laugh. Our English class is probably the best. We are fun to talk to, we get good grades, and we can make you laugh. The only problem is that we can get a little bit loud sometimes. My favorite period of the day is gym. I love meeting my friends and doing something active and fun instead of sitting in class all day, but the day goes by when I'm having fun, like usual. The only con about school is my teeny weeny locker, but I can live with it.
Our English class usually starts with a do now. We come in and take a grammar sheet and other papers from the back table and get started on them. Later, Mrs.Patalano, the most awesome English teacher in the world, goes over the grammar sheet on her handy dandy Smartboard. Then, we do everyday English work. We go over essays, read articles, act out plays, and we do many more things. The most hated one in our class would probably be the typing test. We have to type a specific amount of words without looking at the keys in one minute. We will get better at it, so it won't be a problem. Mrs.Patalano is the most organized person I have ever met. She is brilliant. She has a spectacular way of teaching English, she pushes hard enough to mad you improve and we do. The impossible has been achieved. I am going to miss her next year. She can be funny, too. So our class is pretty much the fun class. I hope to learn some things about you and maybe you could help us with our college career unit. I hope you enjoy your stay here at English period 1. :)

Career

I know this might sound stupid to some of you, but it's one of my biggest dreams. I have always wanted to be a musician. I want to live in California, and go to Yale University. Yale has been my dream college since I was four years old. I am also going to apply to Princeton University, Brown, and Harvard. But, I still want to get accepted into Yale. That's why I am going to start working hard in school from now on. I've always wanted to record a song in a professional recording studio, get signed with a record label, and perform on stage with thousands of screaming fans. The salary is fine as long it's a job I like. Let's open the doors to thousands of opportunities, you never know. You might be one in a million.

New Year's Resolution

The start of the new year is a great way to improve something about yourself. This year, I really want to stop biting my nails. That is my main new years resolution. I bite my nails very often and they start to look really bad and disgusting. Biting my nails only leads to gross nails and bad health. In order to stop biting my nails, I bought a clear nail polish that is called Thum. It is a clear fluid that you apply to your nails, so when you put your nail into your mouth, it tastes really sour or bitter. If I can accomplish this goal, then I will be able to have beautiful and healthy nails. This year will be the start of something new!
